Prayer to Saint Philomena:
Virgin Saint Philomena,
during your passage through this valley of tears
You have always shown proof of Your patience, Your resignation and Your detachment from riches,
goods and pomp of this world.
You were the living example of faith and love for Jesus Christ,
preferring Your purity to the magnificence of an imperial throne,
not accepting the hand of one of the most powerful monarchs of your time.
You never manifested any ambition, any vanity;
You never let Yourselves be seduced by wealth, by royalty, by power.
The blessedness you enjoy in Heaven
It is a worthy reward for Your detachment, for Your truly Christian spirit.
I therefore use Your merits together with Our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your divine Husband,
begging You for the grace to infuse into my soul
the same charity that encouraged You, giving me the strength to resist temptations,
to be content with what I have, to be free from vanity,
and thus be able to one day participate in eternal happiness
in your company.
