St. John Bosco's Day is celebrated on January 31st. Saint John Bosco or Don Bosco, was an Italian priest, founder of the Salesians, and co-founder of the Salesians. He also created the Association of Devotees of Our Lady Help of Christians and the Association of Salesian Cooperators. He is the patron saint of young people and the “father and teacher of youth” for his love and dedication to young people. He is also the patron saint of illusionists. He was born in the Becchi family, in northern Italy, on August 16, 1815 and died in Turin, on January 31, 1888. Due to his influence, oratories, boarding schools and professional schools were created in several countries in Europe and America, as he sent missionaries to Latin America. He also published diverse Catholic and “civil” literature. He built several churches, including the Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians in Turin, and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, in Rome, all with donations alone. He was beatified in 1929 and canonized in 1934.
