Saint Peter in resin.
Peter was born in Bethsaida, Galilee, around the year 1 BC, and was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. His birth name was Simon, but Jesus changed it to Kepha. In Aramaic, Kepha means stone or rock, which translated into Latin is Petrus and, in Portuguese, Pedro. According to the Bible, Jesus said: “I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven.” Peter was chosen by Jesus as leader of the apostles and the first followers of the Christian faith.
His feast day is June 29th.
