Saint Barbara grew up without knowing who Jesus was. Her father wanted to keep her away from the world and locked her in a high tower, away from envy. While shut in, Saint Barbara began reading and learning about Jesus. She was baptized in secret and became a Christian. When her father found out about her conversion to Christianity, he was angry and gave Saint Barbara the choice of renouncing her faith or being killed. She replied, “I offer myself to God, Jesus Christ, who created heaven and earth and all things.” Saint Barbara was killed, offering her life as a martyr, or someone who dies for Jesus. Your life is a beautiful example of true love and faith in Jesus Christ. Santa Barbara is the patron saint of builders, architects, and is the protector against lightning and storms, and her feast day is December 4th
