A tile is a thin piece of ceramic , one of which is glazed , resulting from the firing of a coating generally known as enamel , which becomes waterproof and shiny. This face can be monochromatic or polychromatic , smooth or embossed . Tile is generally used in large numbers as an element associated with architecture to cover interior or exterior surfaces or as an isolated decorative element.
